MISSING: Ltd edition 2007 Killer Bee

Tuesday, August 29th, 2006

I hope you all had a good weekend, after the pessimistic dodgy weather forecasts I ended up sunburnt! Can’t argue with a bit of sun though, but then I come in this morning to find outMissing Focus Killer Bee someone has pinched our Brand New, Limited edition, Focus Killer Bee MTB! This was our test bike to send round the magazines but it never made it to us… Last seen in Birmingham after being imported from Germany. This sweet new bike was going to be some good healthy competition to the Focus Raven. So unfortunately we can’t tell you exactly how it rides but I can tell you the spec… its outfitted with Rockshox Reba-SL, 100mm travel fork with remote Poploc, Shimano XT rear derailleur, Shimano Deore LX Rapid Fire levers, XT chainset and Avid brakes. It’s going to be one hell of a bike for 2007.

So if you see it around your town (or eBay!)… please let us know. Like I said this bike is limited and there’s only about 10 in Europe and this is the only one in this country.  How annoying is this?? We knew the new Focus ‘07 bikes were being eagerly anticipated but I didn’t think it would come to this. Now you lot won’t be able to read any reviews or see any proper pictures for a little while. We’ll do our best though and we’ll let you know as soon as we get another one in. We’ll probably need to get it flown in contained in a giant titanium safe surrounded by sharks and errr… killer bees ;-)

If you would like to help feel free to display our little poster on any respectable post or wall.  I’ll keep you updated all the same.  If you would like to have a look at some of the Focus bikes we currently have in stock, click here.

aaarrrrgggghhhhhh!!

P.S. We’ve also just put a lot of gear up on eBay, take a look at our eBay Shop and see if you can grab a quick bargain. It’s a good use for some of that PayPal money thats sitting around in your account doing nothing!

Summer bank holiday weekend… and yes I did say Summer.

Friday, August 25th, 2006

So the much anticipated August bank holiday weekend is upon us already! For the first time in a while I’m not going to rock-out at Reading Festival, I’ve got a nice quite weekend camping down in Cornwall planned with the lads… ok so it might not be all that quite or nice but it will be a good weekend all the same.  Well, that’s assuming I can stay dry, weather forecast looks pretty, erm… English! But its all booked and I think you have to just embrace it. Luckily it’s pay day this week so I’ve been through the site and grabbed myself a couple of bargains that should come in useful.  First of I’ve bagged a packet of Hi-Gear Cyclone Matches. Now I kid you not, these bad boys can withstand 1 hour emersion in water and will light in winds of up to 50km/h. Not a bad for under £2.50!

Next up I’ve got myself a decent torch, a Coleman wide beam, only £7.99 so I can find my way back to tent, that’s assuming I remember to take it to the pub in the first place of course. Last but not least I needed a cool Gore-Tex all weather jacket. I managed to find this lightweight Sprayway Venom Paclite GTX. Now because we’ve still got the August discount running this jacket now has 52% off its RRP. ABSOLUTE BARGAIN!

Ok so hopefully now I’ll be fully prepared for whatever the weekend can throw at me. Or at least I’ll just look good while sat in my tent in a random field in Bude. Make sure you have a good weekend, and make the most of it. Rides are always a bit more fun after some rain as well so there’s even more of an excuse to make sure you get out there and tear it up.

Feel free to leave some comments and share your plans for the weekend.

Adios

It only takes a couple of seconds, we’re not asking for any of your  details, just your opinion, so please, come on… click here to vote and you could see your favourite design on the site soon!

2007 Focus bikes on the horizon!

Wednesday, August 16th, 2006

There is a first time for everything and this is it! Our first ever wiggle blog, or as we’re affectionately calling it… bloggle, entry! And we start off with a cracker!

So, a lot of you reading this, will hopefully, if I’ve done my job properly, have seen some of the press releases floating around online on Whatmtb, Cyclingplus, singletrackworld as well as a few other sites about the new 2007 Focus Bike range. If you haven’t (don’t tell anyone, I’ll get in trouble) here’s a couple of links so you can have a look and get the “Official” word. If you want something a bit more secret and as yet unknown read on!

Road Cycling UK.com & MBUK.com Press releases.

A bit of Focus roadie news first. We’ve had a couple of sample bikes arrive in the last week or so. We have a sample Cayo sat in the workshop at the moment and I can tell you it looks absolutely GORGEOUS! I didn’t think Focus could improve on last years Cayo but, of course, they have… Below are some shots, excuse the amateur nature, of the new beaut in the flesh. The three main things they have addressed, in our opinion, are the saddle, the wheels and the fact we can now get both a double and triple version. I don’t know if they surfed a load of forums over here or did a survey of UK rider opinions but whatever, these are three key issues that came up with last years model, fixed. We will still be sending them out at the same killer price as last year of £999.99 and, of course, they will be “Ready 2 Ride” straight out of the box. Ok, so I think the most dramatic change, and something we’ve all been drooling over here, is that new fat weave carbon, it’s even more amazing in the flesh. Technical details are scarce, more to follow, but I do know it’s stronger, and it looks a million dollars too. Oh, and it has a new rear end set up as well.

We also got a sample of the brand new 2007 Focus “Mares Cross” Cyclo Cross bike. This has the same frame as the FocusCross Expert” and is built, specced and pitched as a serious racing machine, which of course it is… Are we going to charge serious racing machine money for it..? Nagh…! This will be our “Cayo” of this season and absolutely smash the competition away. As far as I know it will be £699.99 and It looks damn fine too… I only have a stock photo as Mike Hawkins from Cycling Weekly took one look at her and demanded they get it for it’s first review! So they did…!

We are also waiting with baited breath for the sample ladies road bike we are bringing in, the “Hot Venus”, again, as soon as it arrives and I can get some shots I will, this is one serious bike, as far as I know 220 Triathlon Magazine will be putting it through it’s paces in the not too distant future.

And onto a bit of Focus MTB news. We should be receiving a sample of one of the brand new “LTD” MTB range very shortly. I have my fingers crossed it will be the Focus “Killer Bee” (I want, I want, I want…!). Now this is a serious bike and one that may push the Raven, winner of the best sub £1000 MTB of the year in WhatMTB, to it’s limits, although for 2007 the Raven is coming as more of a due to us bringing in the “Pro” and “Expert” editions as well as the award winning, standard “Raven”. We will also be getting the “Black Raider LTDâ€?, yet another superb bike with an outstanding spec and silly price, as far as I know it will be £699.99. Matt Skinner from MBUK will get this sample and will be reviewing for MBUK very soon, so get the mag for his opinion.

I think the ladies Focus MTB’s will be looked at/featured in this months MBUK too? Anyway, keep checking back for more pics and info on the whole range. I’ll keep posting more detailed stuff up here as and when it arrives from Germany. As far as the site is concerned we have our “10% off over any £50 basket” offer still running, this will carry on until the end of the month as it’s proving very popular. We also have our new eNewsletter’s that have been going out over the last couple of months. These are also proving really popular. Next months MTB competition prizes are a wicked Ultimate home mechanics kit and a set of Crank Brothers Cobalt cranks. The road prize is a super sweet pair of Crank Brothers Quattro pedals, it might be the new 2007 4Ti’s too!

We also just got awarded a Hitwise Top Ten Award this quarter!
